Me, thinking about animals dressed as other animals. And pie.

Hi! Thanks for falling in love with me checking out my blog! My name is Julie. You can call me Jules, because I sense you’re ready to take our friendship to the next level.

The Blog

I like to write about life (mostly my own, but I’d be glad to take a crack at yours) and all of the ridiculousness that comes along with it.

Every now and then, things get serious (in, um, a super fun way).

I usually post about twice a week, because someone once told me you can have too much of a good thing.

The Blogger

Uncle Jesse. Have Mercy!

I recently turned 29…again. I’m married to The Peppermeister, but have many men on the side, including my adorable dog, Uncle Jesse I’m from New Jersey, born and raised, and am apparently never leaving. I have a degree in creative writing, so naturally I now work as a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) for Big Pharma. And I have a barn.

Oh! One more thing you should probably know: I like chipmunks. A lot.

You mean you DON'T have chipmunk life coaches?

  3. People put peanut butter in the fridge? That’s insane. Mine is always within reach. I love it on toast but can eat it off of a spoon, too. Weird thing is, I don’t particularly like peanut flavored things. Just the real thing for me.

Thanks for stopping by today. I look forward to reading your blog.

    Don’t Make That Face

  4. My first About comment – aw! Thanks!! And by someone who shares my peanut butter philosophy, no less!

  7. I love your blog Julie! Your Harry Potter post definitely drew me right in. Definitely looking forward to reading more.

    • Thank you so much! That is really wonderful to hear; I’ve been getting such a kick out of blogging, and have been blown away by all of the supportive, talented, hilarious fellow bloggers I’ve ‘met’!

  9. I love Clueless, too! Never saw or read anything Twilight-related (yet) I am afraid I’ll be hooked so I avoid it, much like anything to do with Harry Potter. Just don’t have enough time in the day. maybe one day! Love your blog, Julie/Jules! (my daughter’s name is Julia and I would love to call her Jules, but so far, it’s been Ju-Ju thanks for my son…sigh)

    • Thank you so much!

I can GUARANTEE you’ll be hooked on Twilight and Harry Potter once you start reading, and I just might have to make it my mission to ensure that that happens. Conveniently, now that I’ve gotten my anniversary present for the year, I was looking for a new reason for living. This works out swimmingly.

Oh and you definitely have my blessing to call me Jules! (Too funny, my one nephew calls me “Aunt Ju-Ju”.)

      • I am thrilled I’ve given you a reason to live! (you actually made me laugh out loud, thank you)
Y’know, I did watch (by accident, of course) a Harry Potter movie and I was sucked in immediately, so I had to tear myself away. I just don’t have the time, I tells ya!

  10. Clueless was my favorite movie for years!! I still love it… picked it up on Blu-ray. Another favorite though is Sugar and Spice… although it is my guilty pleasure, my husband likes it too.
I live for my teeny bopper TV though… Pretty Little Liars, old episodes of Dawson’s Creek and Charmed make me pretty happy.

    • Ahhh this makes me SO happy!!! I need another “Clueless” die-hard! I guess I need to check out Sugar and Spice, huh!?

I almost feel silly for bringing this up (wait, shame, now? Really? Really, Shame? You choose to show yourself now, after all these years?), but I used to be an extra on Dawson’s Creek! I say that only so you know I share your love of teeny bopper TV. Right now I cannot WAIT for 90210 and Glee to come back on.

  11. I have been awake for a few too many hours than I’d like (jetlagged) & reading your blog has cheered me up! I too am a massive Clueless, Twilight & Glee fan (alongside lots of other things I’m usually ridiculed for liking…)
So thank you for brightening up my day :)

    • And in turn you’ve made my day! Thank you! You’re just the type of reader I like – tired enough to think I’m interesting. It’s a match made in heaven. Thank you so much!! :)

  12. I also heart Glee and Twilight yay!

  14. I’m notifying my favorite bloggers one by one, since I couldn’t figure out how to get links to work (I’m technically challenged) – You’ve been nominated by me for the Versatile Blogger Award. If you want to take advantage of this dubious honor… Write a post that mentions notquiteold as your nominator, nominate 15 other posts (a lot I know) and tell your readers seven things about yourself that they may not know. Congrats, and I love your blog.

    • Nancy, thank you so much! I absolutely LOVE your blog. I was actually (shockingly) nominated for this one a long time ago, so I don’t think I’m allowed to accept! However, I have been wanting to do a post about some of my favorite bloggers, so this could be a good excuse :)

  16. Wow! SUrprised I didn’t come across your blog earlier… Every Friday I do feature on Guilty Pleasure songs of mine. Stop by when you can! http://www.foodandwinehedonist.com

  17. ive just googled Darren Criss, the hottie out of Glee! i now see the obsession. maybe one day you, me, your future husband and Puck can have a joint wedding :)

  18. I love the premise of this blog! I suspect I’m going to enjoy this immensely. Oh, and…

I believe in John Denver lyrics more than the Bible.

    Let’s be friends! ^_^

    • Chris! You’re the first blogger to ever talk to me about John Denver! We are already friends, from the Rocky Mountains to the Muppets’ Christmas, and all the obscure songs in between (…don’t get me started).

  19. Wow! How come I haven’t come across this blog already? Totally following…I do a Guilty Pleasure song every Friday on my site – http://www.foodandwinehedonist.com... Most of my life has been a Guilty Pleasure, but don’t have the courage to own up to most of it. Except Gilmore Girls. I was proud of that one. Stop by some time!

    • Thank you so much, and that’s fabulous! I’m now following you, too! I can’t wait to see some of these guilty pleasure songs.

Gilmore Girls RULES! Who’s your favorite Rory boyfriend? I’m partial to Jess myself, but I like them all. (You can sleep well tonight. I am your guilty pleasure enabler!)

      • I’d have to say Logan, only because he could keep with Rory and Lorelai in a conversation. I really loved Gil, the guitarist for Lane’s band, played by Sebastian Bach (Skid Row). Ooh, I just came with another song – haven’t done a hair band in a while…

  20. Do you like Lord of the Rings?

    • Peppermeister will groan at this, but I still haven’t seen the movies (I did read “The Hobbit” when I was a kid)!! I know I would like them, so I have no excuse. I am even an Elijah Wood fan!

Thanks so much for reading and commenting :) I hope I get to hear more about your guilty pleasures!

  21. I have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. It’s because you are funny– as in, I-just-peed-my-pants-after-reading-what-you-just-wrote-funny. If for some strange reason you want details they are on my site (http://asoulswalk.wordpress.com/things-people-say/). Keep being… yourself.

  22. Nice BLOG!!! Keep up the good work!!!

    be an engaging read…
and if I can find my way
    back here… No idea
    how I landed upon your
    Space, but it certainly
    has some appeal…

    Happy New Year 2012

    Androgoth

    • Thanks, Androgoth! I wish I could tell you how you found me, but I do know searching on ‘guilty pleasures’ usually gets folks here eventually! That and following their heart of hearts. ;)

  25. Fabulous blog I wish I had found it sooner! A random search for “Gypsy wedding” brought me here and I will definitely keep coming back to read your other blogs. Yay! for Guilty Pleasures! :]

    • Wow, that’s so nice of you to say, Riannon! It’s funny how many people land here by searching ‘gypsy wedding,’ but I usually don’t hear anything from them (well, a lot of them are searching for ‘young gypsy girls scantily clad,’ so that might be why, HA!), so this is a real treat!

I hope I get to hear about some of your favorite guilty pleasures! :)

  26. You’re a Glee fan. Nuff said.

    • Oh boy, I REALLY hope that’s a good thing as far as you’re concerned (I just checked out your very cool blog, and since you quoted Lea Michele, I’m thinking it is)! Thank you so much for reading and commenting! :)

  27. You wouldn’t happen to want to watch a comedian who is quite possibly a chipmunk in human form? Or maybe just a goon…
Anyway, his name’s Russell Howard and he’s lovely. WATCH.

  28. Congratulations, you have been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award!! What does this mean for you? Well it means a little work sorry!! :-)
The challenge rules for this one can be found by going here: http://midliferanting.wordpress.com/2012/02/07/being-versatile-is-interesting/
    Have fun and enjoy!

  29. Love your blog! Where have you been all my life?

  30. This is all too awesome for me to comment on properly. I feel like just typing “hooray for chipmunks” over and over but I don’t want to scare away your sane readers.

  31. I love your humor. Can we schedule a play date for Uncle Jesse and my dog Bubble (a 30-lb. Beagle-English Bulldog mix)? Bubble makes that same expression as Uncle Jesse in the pic – clearly they have a lot in common. Take care.

  32. I thought eating Peanut butter of the jar was a necessity not a guilty pleasure. Thank you for making me feel young again as I read through you “About Me”!
    Peach State

  33. Jules (I feel ready to take our friendship to the next level having read only two of your posts and your About page…is that creepy?), I have to tell you that your blog is the funnest (this word is one of my guilty pleasures) thing I have come across since drunk Lady Gaga karaoke. Thank god (or the Wisdom of John Denver – Amen!) for Freshly Pressed. You, from your office/home/town in New Jersey, lit up my Seattle, Washington afternoon. Thanks for putting your happiness out there for the world! :)

    • Thank YOU for leaving what might be the world’s best comment, Edzell! That is exactly what I’m trying to do up in this piece, and it’s so awesome when someone ‘gets it.’ Please DO call me Jules! :) Praise Denver! Preach! :)

  34. Lol I should’ve read this earlier, you rock! And you gotta make bacon vodka yourself.

  35. I laughed out loud at your blog. Although this might seem trivial, I happen to work in a tiny cubicle and later realized the entire office had gone quiet. LOL, good times. I love the concept of your blog. Keep it going! Kudos.

  36. I just clicked “Like” on this page because it said I would be the FIRST to like this page! One of my guilty pleasures is feeling special.

  37. I think I have lost my way. Could you please help me find platform nine and three quarters? ;)

  38. :) Somebody has beaten me to it, but I’m also nominating you for the Versatile Blogger Award….!!!

  39. You look lovely with a mustache and I love your blog, so I’ve nominated you for a One Lovely Blog Award. Do with it what you will. And you’re welcome.

  40. To the ever funny and completely charming Ms. Jules, I have also nominated you for the One Lovely Blog award. Add it to the Guilty Pleasures accolades collection. Thanks for a FANTASTIC blog!!!!

  41. Hi Jules! I’ve seen you as a commenter on The Food and Wine Hedonist’s blog and this morning followed a link from Childhood Relived – so glad I did! Initially it was the mustache that made me curious but now that I’m here – You Funny! Thanks for making a Sunday filled with housework drudgery more bearable.

    • Thank you so much, Cheryl, and thank you for the follow! This comment totally made my day :) My mustache and I really look forward to getting to know you better.

    • Thanks so much, David! I am raising my cup of caw-fee to you right now (although I must confess I’m doing so from Jersey, but I think that still entitles me to the delightful accent :) !

  44. howdy….actually i was looking for a naked gypsy covered in ketchup….we call it tomato sauce here….but im glad i found you instead…………..cool blog

  45. Laughter is a great healer, so thanks! I read today’s blog and realized we shared the same wonderful place, BOWCRAFT amusements… for the fun kid in all of us. Thanks for a wonderful blog… will follow. Kris
