Lovey Dovey Sunday

I love love. Even as a teenager with braces, extra chins and a permanent seat at the ‘Geek Table,’ I couldn’t get enough of Valentine’s Day. While others lucky enough to have a valentine would grumble and groan about the commercial nature of the holiday, I couldn’t find a single reason not to embrace a day that celebrated love. Not just romantic love, but love for family and friends, too.

It’s far from February, but there are lots of lovey dovey vibes out there this weekend that were just too wonderful not to share with you sweet little chipmunks.

Deborah from The Monster in Your Closet put up a beautiful post about love yesterday.

There are so many things I love about The Byronic Man’s latest post – I’m sure you’ll understand as soon as you read it.

My cousin recently shared this fantastic video on YouTube (Fran & Marlo Cowan, married 62 years, playing an impromptu recital together in the atrium of the Mayo Clinic):

And for some real guilty pleasure love, I discovered this weekend that Second Husband participated in a Funny or Die LOLCat skit (as the voice of Leopold in “Life of Leopold”). You can watch it here. …Sigh. Isn’t he so smart and funny and dreamy, even (especially?) with whiskers?

  1. Thank you so much for linking to that post, which is dearer to me than any I’ve yet written. ♥

That aside, I loved this post so much I had to share it on FB. I actually cheered *and* clapped for it, just in case my teddy bears know what to watch when I leave the apartment later.

Your second husband is the bomb. (Nothing against your also-rockin’ first husband, of course! Obviously there’s a reason they’re designated “first” and “second”–and it’s not chronological!)

    1. That might be one of my favorite posts of yours, too (although how could I EVER pick??)!! I just, well, LOVED it! I feel pretty strongly about the topic.

Thank you so much for sharing on FB! And for the cheers! If the bears know what’s good for them, they’ll watch the YouTube clip of the married couple at least 3 times in a row (like I did). 🙂

I feel very lucky to have two such awesome husbands. Mostly because it confirms my own awesomeness.

  2. Oh and the piano video from Mayo is one of my favs! Fantastic post and fantastic throwback to Deborah because I loved her post too. I’m feelin the love up in here now!

    1. Thanks so much, Joy! Deb’s post made my day (like her posts always do!).

I realized after I posted the Mayo clinic video that I was already about 6 million people behind on that one, LOL (The clip I used only had 4 views so I thought it was new! Ha!)

    1. Thanks, Darla! It probably goes without saying that I think you have excellent taste in blogs 🙂

This has been a gorgeous day on the East Coast! So glad it sounds like you’re enjoying it (with peanut butter cups???)! 🙂

      1. It was in the high 80s here yesterday. While my brother down south was only in the 70s. Strange weather considering Halloween is only a few weeks away, but I’ll take it. My kids busted out the sprinkler and popsicles! (no PB cups, wah!)

        1. Wow! I can’t believe it was that warm up by you, too! It was definitely in the 80s here. I cleaned and walked the dog (thrill-a-minute, right here) and also had a depressing lack of peanut butter cups 😉

  3. Hey, thanks for the compliment and mention! I really appreciate it. And I love being loved, so this exponentially increases the love. With this much love-momentum, I wouldn’t be surprised if in some war-torn region everyone’s saying, “You know, I just don’t feel like killing right now. Don’t know what it is…”

    1. I think that’s exactly what’s happening right now.

Also. I know you’ll appreciate this. Someone just got to my blog by searching, “hooking up- no slobber.”

      1. Somebody out there has set their standards very, very low for meeting that special someone, it would appear. “Just… please… don’t slobber. That’s… that’s all I ask.”

        1. Ha! I’ve spent so much time thinking about this since my last comment to you.

          Annnnd it’s still funny.

Annnnd I still have no idea how they got to my blog (I think it was my halitosis post, which means I gave ’em a whole new set of worries [while simultaneously solving none of their problems]. Oopsie).

  4. I love love, too! As you probably know, my wife’s Korean and in Korea they have four Valentine’s Days per year. There’s the one in February, and three others that are for specific types of relationships, including one for people that are not in relationships! So what I do is celebrate all of them as though they all played by the same rules as the one in February!

  5. I love that couple SO MUCH! I love that they are standing up like rock stars. Love their little switch. Love that she bounced right back up from her stumble. Thanks for sharing that. I have a crazy/busy/stressful day and this made me smile big.

    1. I know!! When they switched the first time I think I might have even clapped in delight. Like I am now! You saying that made MY day (it’s been a long one)! 🙂

    1. I bet you are as charming, but won’t put money on it ’til I see the footage.

And same here. Even sappy cards are banned in our house, but I think I have to make an exception for piano duos. I wonder if there’s a way to make Nirvana sound jaunty on a crappy keyboard.

  6. Wonderful post. I saw that duet recently, and loved it as well. I want to be like them when I am old- but more importantly, I want to make sure that I am like that now, and not 50 years from now! -kate

  7. I’m so behind on commenting! That video really made me smile, but then everytime I visit your blog something makes me smile! BTW–I thought of you this weekend. I went to visit my oldest daughter in Lewisburg, WV and I saw more chipmunks in the wooded area around her house than I’ve ever seen in my life! Chipmunks=Cute=Jules!! 🙂

    1. Yes! And I can say with confidence, Hollywood romance is alive and kicking. Second Husband and I talk about it all the time, usually after he’s serenaded me from below my window, brought me flowers, champagne and chocolates. And stuffed animals. Dressed as other animals.
